Dishoom Borough: what the October soft-launch offer actually covers

The new London café is advertising half-price food from 12–20 October, but advance bookings are full. Here is what to know before trying a walk-in.

A half-price opening offer can make a new restaurant tempting. It can also leave an important question unanswered: half-price what? At the forthcoming Dishoom Borough in London, the restaurant’s own announcement is specific about the food discount—and equally clear that advance bookings for the soft launch are already full.

As checked on 1 October 2026, Dishoom is advertising 50% off all food from Monday 12 to Tuesday 20 October, while its team completes training. Walk-ins are welcome. This is a forthcoming opening, not a report from a meal we have eaten there.

A new address beside Borough Market

The café’s listed address is The Hop Exchange, 11–13 Park Street, London SE1 9AB. Dishoom names London Bridge as the nearest Tube and railway station; the Tube lines are Northern and Jubilee.

The restaurant describes its setting through the story of Bombay’s Crawford Market in the 1950s. That is the venue’s creative premise, not our account of a historic connection between the London building and Bombay.

Its published food introduction spans breakfast, lunch and dinner. Examples include a Bacon Naan Roll, Benne Dosa and Cinnamon-Jaggery Pancakes at breakfast, with Chicken Ruby, House Black Daal and biryanis among the later-day dishes. These are examples from the restaurant’s description, not a guarantee that every dish will be available at every soft-launch service.

Half-price food is not a half-price bill

The offer says all food. It does not say that drinks are half-price. That distinction matters if you are deciding whether to make a special trip: do not apply the headline percentage to the whole amount you expect to spend.

The announcement we checked also does not spell out how any service charge will be calculated during the offer. Before ordering, check the current menu and offer terms, including drinks and any applicable charges. We are not quoting a fixed meal price or ranking this against other London restaurants; the source supports a food discount, not a complete bill calculation.

There is a second distinction worth keeping. The discount accompanies staff training. It should be approached as a preview service, with some flexibility in your plans, rather than a promise of a particular pace or an established routine.

Full bookings, but a walk-in option

Dishoom’s page says soft-launch bookings are full and walk-ins remain welcome. Those statements are compatible: an unavailable advance reservation does not mean the restaurant has ruled out all arrivals without one.

But “walk-ins welcome” is not a guaranteed table, a published waiting time or a commitment to seat every group. If you have a train to catch, a theatre booking or a large party, keep an alternative in mind. Check the restaurant’s own page again before setting out, since availability can change.

The page also lists regular opening hours. Do not assume that a general hours panel answers every question about the training period; confirm the service you intend to attend, especially if you are aiming for breakfast or arriving late.

The useful decision before you go

If you are curious about the new café and can be flexible, the announced walk-in offer gives you a concrete window to consider: 12–20 October 2026. If certainty matters more than a discount, a visit after the training period may suit your plans better—but check current reservations and menus rather than assuming availability.

Either way, separate three things when planning: the future opening dates, the discount on food, and your chance of getting a table. They answer different questions. Keeping them separate makes the offer easier to judge without turning an opening announcement into a restaurant review.
