Söderhallarna reopens in stages: what to expect on 23 October
Stockholm’s food hall and several restaurants will lead the reopening. Here is what is planned first, what follows later in autumn and what waits until 2027.
There is a date to put in the diary, but it does not mean the entire building will be ready at once. Söderhallarna, by Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm, is due to reopen on Friday 23 October 2026, following three years of renovation. Property owner Atrium Ljungberg announced on 17 September that the food hall and several restaurants would lead the reopening, with more businesses following later.
For anyone planning a food-focused visit, that sequence matters more than the full list of future tenants. Here is what has been confirmed ahead of the opening, checked on 30 September.
First: the food hall and restaurants
Atrium Ljungberg says the majority of food-hall businesses will open on 23 October. Those named include Köttkompaniet, Sjömatbaren, Affinage and Pärlans Konfektyr.
The restaurant line-up in the opening announcement includes SIN Ramen, Zazha and Kajsas Fisk, alongside a new concept from 20-Gruppen, the group behind venues including Tjoget and G.A.T. Söderhallarna’s own website now includes Kafé Søder in its list of businesses.
Bouillon has also been announced. The property owner describes the bistro as drawing on the French bouillon tradition, with roots in the nineteenth century. That establishes its intended style; it is not enough to call the restaurant inexpensive or judge its cooking. The opening sources checked for this article give no menu prices, so this is not a price comparison.
Gränd comes later, with more additions in 2027
The beer concept Gränd is planned for later in the autumn, in the passage connecting the food hall with Björkhallen. It should not be treated as a confirmed opening-day stop.
The same announcement places a craft bakery and a bagel concept in 2027, along with Filmstaden and Kronans Apotek. It does not name the bakery or bagel business. Being included in the building’s overall line-up therefore does not mean a business will be open on 23 October.
Planning a first visit
Start by deciding what you want from the trip: shopping in the food hall or sitting down for a meal. That will help you identify which business’s information to follow before opening day.
- Check the individual business. The building’s opening date is not a substitute for a restaurant’s own opening hours or booking information.
- Read the menu when it becomes available. A concept name does not tell you the price of lunch, portion sizes or the options on offer.
- Separate opening day from the rest of autumn. Do not plan an itinerary that relies on Gränd or the 2027 additions already being in operation.
This is a preview, not a review or an account of a visit. The confirmed milestone is the food hall’s planned reopening on 23 October. If a particular restaurant is your reason for going, check its latest announcement closer to the date.
